THIS TOUR VISITS THE MAIN NATURALISTIC AND GEOLOGICAL SITES OF ICELAND. THE DAILY ITINERARY INCLUDES STOPS TO DISCOVER ICELANDIC FEATURES SUCH AS SPECTACULAR WATERFALLS, HOT-WATER SPRINGS AND VOLCANIC AREAS. IN THIS TOUR, YOU WILL BE IN CONTACT NOT ONLY WITH NATURE BUT ALSO WITH ICELANDIC HISTORY AND CULTURE. A TOUR OF THE CITY OF REYKJAVIK ON FOOT IS PLANNED, WHERE YOU CAN SEE HOW PEOPLE LIVE IN THE NORTHERN CAPITAL OF THE WORLD. THIS TOUR WILL REVEAL MAJESTIC LANDSCAPES SUCH AS THE GLACIAL LAGOON (WHERE NAVIGATION WITH AN AMPHIBIOUS VEHICLE IS PLANNED), LAKE MÝVATN WITH ITS VOLCANIC AREA, THE GOLDEN CIRCLE CONSTITUTED BY THE GULLFOSS WATERFALL, GEYSERS AND THE NATIONAL PARK OF THINGVELLIR. DURING THE ITINERARY, A BOAT TRIP IS PLANNED FOR WHALE WATCHING. WHAT’S MORE, IN THE EVENING YOU CAN GO OUT TO “HUNT THE AURORA”.

 8 DAYS – 7 NIGHTS

PROGRAMME

Day 1: Arrival

Arrival in Iceland. Transfer to the hotel by private bus. After checking in at the hotel, a visit to Reykjavik on foot. During the tour you will follow an itinerary to discover the capital, walking along the main road, discovering the buildings that mark the city skyline, such as the Halgrimskirkja church and the Harpa theatre. The tour ends in the centre. Dinner at leisure (not included)*. Overnight stay in Reykjavik. 

Day a: Reykjavik – Akureyri

Breakfast at the hotel. The journey begins early in the morning leaving the metropolitan city along road no.1 heading to Akureyri. Along the way, you will see large grasslands and some mountain ranges. There will be a stop at the Grábrók volcano, where you can get to the top of the crater. Continuing on to Eyjafjordur passing through Skagafjörður, considered one of the most beautiful places in Iceland for its rich historical and cultural heritage and for its numerous horse farms. Arrival in Akureyri in the late afternoon, leisure time for shopping. Overnight stay in Akureyri.

Day 3: Akureyri – Lake Myvatn

Breakfast at the hotel. The day begins with a stop at the Goðafoss waterfall or “waterfall of the gods”. The group then continues towards the area of Lake Myvatn, one of the most visited in Iceland. There are countless walks to enjoy around Lake Myvatn. The group stops in Skutustaðir to see the pseudocraters, in Dimmuborgir to see the lava castles and in Námaskarð to see the sulphates. The lake is home to several species of birds that arrive in early summer to nest. Overnight stay in the Myvatn area.

Day 4: Dettifoss – Eastern Fjords

Breakfast at the hotel. After visiting the area of Lake Myvatn, the group will head towards the Dettifoss waterfall, the most powerful waterfall in Europe, with an average water flow of 180-200 ms. Continuing heading east through one of the least inhabited areas of the island. The eastern fjords offer incredible panoramas with towering mountains that plunge vertically into the sea. There, the group passes through small and mysterious coastal villages.

Overnight stay in the western fjords area. 

Day 5: Glacial Lagula

Breakfast at the hotel. From the western fjords, the group will descend slowly to admire the large Vatnajokull glacier, which in 2019 was declared part of Unesco as a World Heritage Site. The Vatnajokull is the largest glacier not only in Iceland but also in Europe. In the Breiðamerkujokull area, there is the Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon, where there is a stop for a 30-40 minute navigation around the icebergs that float in the water and then dissolve in the sea. Overnight stay in the Skaftafell area.

Day 6: Skaftafell – Vík – Waterfalls

Breakfast at the hotel.  Starting the day with a visit to the Skaftafell national park, then continuing on towards Kirkjubærklaustur and the beautiful town of Vík. A stop at Reynisfjarra beach and Dyrholæy cliffs, where you might spot puffin colonies. The itinerary still includes two stops at the Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls. Overnight stay in the Hella – Hvolsvöllur area.  

 

Day 7: Golden Circle – Reykjavík

Breakfast at the hotel. The seventh day itinerary ends the tour with the three wonders that make Icelandic nature famous. Here you will discover the Golden Circle. The first stop is at the geothermal area of the Geysir, where you can admire the spectacle of pools of hot water and steam. The most famous geysir in the area is Strokkur which greets visitors every 5-10 minutes with an irregular spray. The second stop is Gullfoss, the “golden waterfall”, with a double jump of water surrounded by a very unusual canyon in basalt.  The last stop is near Lake Thingvallavatn, Iceland’s largest lake, inside Thingvellir National Park. Þingvellir is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is the place where the oldest parliamentary government in the world was founded, and it is also where the North American and European tectonic plates meet. Continue on to Reykjavik and your hotel, where you spend the last night of the tour.

Day 8: Departure

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure transfer from the hotel to Keflavik international airport.

CANCELLATIONS

From 10 weeks (70 days) to 8 weeks (57 days) before the arrival date, 20% of the total amount is retained 

From 8 weeks (56 days) to 6 weeks (43 days) before the arrival date, 40% of the total amount is retained 

From 6 weeks (42 days) to 4 weeks (29 days) before the arrival date, 50% of the total amount is retained 

From 4 weeks (28 days) to 2 weeks (15 days) before the arrival date, 75% of the total amount is retained 

From 2 weeks (14 days) before the arrival date  

The entire amount is retained.  

In the rare case of a double booking or other good reasons to move the guest, we reserve the right to do so by offering similar or better accommodation in the same area. 

Changes to reservations made after the start of the trip are the guest’s liability.
